Bio

I completed my bachelor’s degree in agriculture in Bangladesh, graduating first in my class. During my undergraduate studies, I developed a strong passion for plant genetics and molecular biology. To further my expertise in these areas, I pursued an M.Sc. in Plant Genetics and Breeding at Bangladesh Agricultural University. After completing my M.Sc., I moved to Australia and joined the Department of Genetics at The University of Melbourne for my Ph.D. My doctoral research focused on developing method for multigene engineering in plants. Following my Ph.D., I moved to the United States and joined the synthetic biology group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a research institution under the U.S. Department of Energy. My postdoctoral work focused on developing synthetic biology tools for bioenergy crops such as poplar. My work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory was recognized with the prestigious R&D 100 Award in 2024 for developing a novel method for gene stacking in plants.

In 2022, I transitioned to Invaio Sciences Inc., a biotech startup in Boston (United States), where I led molecular biology research efforts, including the development of high-throughput qPCR assays for plant disease detection. Later, I returned to Bangladesh and joined Patuakhali Science and Technology University, where I currently serve as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding. My current research focuses on using genome editing to enhance nutrient uptake and use efficiency in crops, particularly phosphorus acquisition in rice.

Beyond research, I am actively involved in academic mentoring and scientific publishing. I serve as a reviewer for multiple international journals and have contributed to patents and high-impact publications. Through my work, I strive to bridge fundamental plant science with applied agricultural innovations to enhance global food security.
